for what changes are needed, and sed commands that can be used to make them en masse.
I've verified that bitbake -c patch world works with these, but did not run a world
build; the majority of recipes shouldn't need further fixups, but if there are
some that still fall out, they can be fixed in followups.

Drop fixes which are upstream (fixed differently):
* 0001-Fix-SIGSEGV-during-DumpStateLog.patch
* 0004-Add-definition-for-MAX.patch
Upstream has significantly reworked the netlink handling, this breaks the
existing patches which:
* Rework the interface handling from a bitbmap into a list
* Include checks for significant changes to interfaces before discarding the
entire set and restarting
* A fix for deleting interfaces
The upstream code appears to handle the latter two cases, the former was
noted as a problem on Android in 2017.
Drop all these changes and hope that they are indeed resolved; the upstream
changes appear to be based on code from the matter-openwrt tree (authored by
Apple):
https://github.com/project-chip/matter-openwrt/tree/main/third_party/mdnsresponder/patches
Refresh all other patches.

There is new patch-status QA check in oe-core:
https://git.openembedded.org/openembedded-core/commit/?id=76a685bfcf927593eac67157762a53259089ea8a
This is temporary work around just to hide _many_ warnings from
optional patch-status (if you add it to WARN_QA).
This just added
Upstream-Status: Pending
everywhere without actually investigating what's the proper status.
This is just to hide current QA warnings and to catch new .patch files being
added without Upstream-Status, but the number of Pending patches is now terrible:
5 (26%) meta-xfce
6 (50%) meta-perl
15 (42%) meta-webserver
21 (36%) meta-gnome
25 (57%) meta-filesystems
26 (43%) meta-initramfs
45 (45%) meta-python

Reinstate and rework patches from @garmin.com dropped in 21afab4609d0
("mdns: update to version 1096.40.7") as these were the functional
pieces of this series; we should either maintain it as a whole or drop
it in its entirety. With this update and without this series,
steady-state operation is a constant churn of all names being removed
and re-added every few seconds. These were refactored to handle the move
to getifaddrs() from get_ifi_info().
Check and cleanup all the other patches, much of which was redundant.
Move source releases to github which is where the Apple site now
redirects to (though these are still effectively just tarball dumps into
git).
Cleanup the recipe so it doesn't override all the packaging defaults.
Fixup musl installs so they don't fail attempting to patch a
non-existent /etc/nsswitch.conf.

CVE-2007-0613 is not applicable as it only affects Apple products
i.e. ichat, mdnsresponder, instant message framework and MacOS.
Also, https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/3230 shows the part of code
affected by CVE-2007-0613 which is not preset in upstream source code.
Hence, CVE-2007-0613 does not affect other Yocto implementations and
is not reported for other distros can be marked whitelisted.

Refresh Makefile patch (build.patch) to properly cross compile
mdns. Then try refresh patches which still apply. Following patches
don't apply anymore due to refactoring done on mdns side so thus
dropping patches:

Apple's default implementation of the Posix backend for mDNSResponder
has a number of weaknesses. Address several of them, most notably:
* Improve interface tracking, preventing confusion to mdns's state
machine. Prevents spurious removal/republication cycles whenever
network interfaces are added or removed.
* Support network interfaces whose indeces are great than 31. Indices
grow past that range surprisingly quickly, especially with multi-
homed, mobile, wifi, Bluetooth, VPN, VLANs, or other interfaces
present.
* Correctly handle edge cases during removal of a network interface.
The fixes are kept as a patch series for clarity.

The following improvements have been made over the recipe that was in
meta-intel-iot-middleware (a layer which is no longer actively
maintained):
* Upgrade to latest upstream version (765.50.9)
* Fix compilation failures by passing CC and LD
* Fix "no GNU hash in the ELF binary" issue
* Point S at the correct source subdirectory so that "make clean" works
* Fix lack of soname on libdns_sd.so leading to missing RDEPENDS QA error
* Add SUMMARY
