* meta: set S from UNPACKDIR in recipes that use only local filesAlexander Kanavin2025-06-201-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There is no need to have two assignments; also setting S from UNPACKDIR (and not vice versa) is more logical as unpack task comes first, and tasks that come after unpack use S to access unpack results. Also adjust reference test data in selftest/recipeutils to reflect changes in test recipes. * recipes: Switch away from S = WORKDIRRichard Purdie2024-05-211-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Where recipes use S = ${WORKDIR}, change them to set UNPACKDIR to a subdir of WORKDIR and make S point at this instead. I've chosen not to force S into any standard UNPACKDIR we may pick in future just so the S = UNPACKDIR case is clearly visible by the directory naming under WORKDIR as that should aid usability. * recipes: Update S = WORKDIR recipes to use ${S} correctlyRichard Purdie2024-05-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Where recipes use S = ${WORKDIR}, ensure they are referencing ${S} correctly to access files as soon we want to stop doing this in WORKDIR at which point they would break unless corrected. * recipes: Drop remaining PR values from recipesRichard Purdie2023-09-221-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We've been removing PR values from recipes at upgrade time for a while. In general anyone maintaining a binary distro would end up having to curate these themselves so the values in OE-Core aren't really that useful anymore. In many ways it makes sense to clear out the remaining ones (which are mostly for 'config' recipes that are unlikely to increase in PV) and leave a clean slate for anyone implementing a binary distro config. References are left in meta-selftest since the tests there do involve them and their removal upon upgrade. * runqemu/qemu-helper: Drop tunctlRichard Purdie2023-06-161-7/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | ip tuntap provides the functionality that we obtained from tunctl. We only needed tunctl when ifconfig was more available than ip. That isn't the case now so we can drop tunctl and all the hoops we need to jump through to build and provide it. * qemu-helper: depend on unfs3 and pseudo directlyAlexander Kanavin2022-11-291-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | The eliminates having to do extra steps (e.g. meta-ide-support) when booting an image with a nfs mount as rootfs - startng runqemu with a nfs mount starts to 'just work' after building an image. * qemu-helper-native: Re-write bridge helper as C programJoshua Watt2022-10-261-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The bridge helper program is invoked directly from QEMU when it needs to attach to a network bridge. As such, it is subject to the environment of QEMU itself. Specifically, if bridging is enabled with direct rendering acceleration, QEMU is run with an LD_PRELOAD that attempts to preload several uninative libraries; however /bin/sh doesn't use the uninative loader which means it can fail to start with an error like: /bin/sh: symbol lookup error: sysroots-uninative/x86_64-linux/lib/librt.so.1: undefined symbol: __libc_unwind_link_get, version GLIBC_PRIVATE Converting the helper program to a C program resolves this problem because it will now use the uninative loader so the preload doesn't cause errors. * meta/meta-selftest/meta-skeleton: Update LICENSE variable to use SPDX ↵Richard Purdie2022-02-201-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | license identifiers An automated conversion using scripts/contrib/convert-spdx-licenses.py to convert to use the standard SPDX license identifiers. Two recipes in meta-selftest were not converted as they're that way specifically for testing. A change in linux-firmware was also skipped and may need a more manual tweak. * runqemu: Add network bridge supportJoshua Watt2020-01-101-1/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Qemu supports attaching the virtual machine to an existing network bridge interface via the qemu-bridge-helper program (as long as the system is correctly configured to give the user permissions). Add support for runqemu to do this also via the "bridge=<INTERFACE>" argument. Note that for this to work correctly, the host qemu-bridge-helper must be used, not the one that might have been built by qemu-native. In order for qemu to correctly find this program, a qemu-oe-bridge-helper program has been added to qemu-helper-native, and runqemu will use this helper as the bridge helper. The helper will look for the host qemu-bridge-helper first by looking in the QEMU_BRIDGE_HELPER environment variable, then by search common paths where the helper is installed. * qemu: split the native version into usermode and system partsAlexander Kanavin2019-02-281-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The rationale is to streamline the overall build. The system parts are only needed to run target images, and so can be built towards the end of the build process. At the same time, the system parts may need gtk+-native and mesa-native which add significantly to the build time. On the other hand, the usermode parts have almost no dependencies and can be built quickly. They are needed at recipes build time to run target binaries, and so are required quite early in the typical build process. * rm_work: Improve handling for addto_recipe_sysrootRichard Purdie2017-07-311-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | Rather than requiring each user to handle this individually, handle addto_recipe_sysroot in the core class. As well as preserving the sysroot directory, this also ensures the stamp is preserved rather than rerunning the task every time as currently happens. * Replace one-line DESCRIPTION with SUMMARYPaul Eggleton2014-01-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | A lot of our recipes had short one-line DESCRIPTION values and no SUMMARY value set. In this case it's much better to just set SUMMARY since DESCRIPTION is defaulted from SUMMARY anyway and then the SUMMARY is at least useful. I also took the opportunity to fix up a lot of the new SUMMARY values, making them concisely explain the function of the recipe / package where possible. * Major layout change to the packages directoryRichard Purdie2010-08-271-0/+21
Having one monolithic packages directory makes it hard to find things and is generally overwhelming. This commit splits it into several logical sections roughly based on function, recipes.txt gives more information about the classifications used. The opportunity is also used to switch from "packages" to "recipes" as used in OpenEmbedded as the term "packages" can be confusing to people and has many different meanings. Not all recipes have been classified yet, this is just a first pass at separating things out. Some packages are moved to meta-extras as they're no longer actively used or maintained.
